PTCOG SFRT Sub-Committee Charges

  • Charge 1. Establish International Consensus Standards
Develop and periodically update consensus recommendations for particle-based spatially fractionated radiation therapy, including physics definitions, dosimetric reporting, treatment planning principles, and quality assurance considerations, to ensure methodological consistency and reproducibility across institutions.
  • Charge 2. Advance Clinical Trial Readiness and Harmonization
Define standardized frameworks for clinical trial design in particle SFRT, including dose prescription concepts, endpoint selection, toxicity reporting, and minimum data elements, and align these efforts with cooperative groups and regulatory expectations to facilitate multi-institutional studies.
  • Charge 3. Coordinate Translational and Mechanistic Research
Promote collaborative research in the radiobiological foundations of particle-based SFRT, including comparisons with photon approaches, dose-structure–response relationships, and integration with emerging combination strategies.
  • Charge 4. Develop a Global Data and Benchmarking Framework
Establish harmonized data collection standards and technical benchmarking metrics to enable cross-platform comparability, pooled analyses, and rigorous evaluation of particle SFRT implementation and outcomes.
  • Charge 5. Lead Education and Knowledge Dissemination
Organize symposia, workshops, and educational initiatives to support responsible clinical adoption and to disseminate best practices in particle SFRT worldwide.
