ECR News | Innovations in Image-Guided Radiotherapy and Sustainable Cancer Care
Date: April 28/2026 Time: 8:30 AM EST / 2:30 PM CET
The webinar will feature two distinguished speakers whose work addresses both technological innovation and broader healthcare challenges in radiation oncology.
Chiara Paganelli, Associate Professor at Politecnico di Milano, will open the session. Dr. Paganelli received her M.Sc. in Bioengineering in 2011 and completed her PhD cum laude in Bioengineering in 2016 at the same institution. She currently conducts research within the CartCasLab. Her research focuses on medical image analysis and processing in image-guided radiotherapy, with particular emphasis on MRI-guided external beam radiotherapy. Through advanced imaging and computational modeling, her work aims to improve treatment precision and enable adaptive radiotherapy approaches that respond to anatomical changes during treatment.
Katie Lichter, will discuss the intersection between radiation oncology, environmental sustainability, and healthcare equity. Dr. Lichter earned her Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University in 2019 and her Doctor of Medicine from Loyola University Chicago in 2020. She completed her radiation oncology residency at University of California San Francisco in 2025 and currently serves as an Assistant Professor at Dartmouth College, while also holding a position as Clinical Instructor at UCSF. Her work focuses on environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and improving equity in cancer care, addressing how healthcare systems can reduce their environmental footprint while maintaining high standards of patient care. Dr. Lichter has received several fellowships related to climate and health policy, including roles with the UC Carbon Neutrality Initiative, the Harvard/Cambridge Health Alliance Climate Health Program, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Climate Change and Health Equity.
